Compliance Summary
General Overview:
The Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre London Heathrow is a business hotel with extensive meeting space spread across two ground floor areas of the hotel. The 41 meeting rooms have the flexibility for multiple plenary and large-sized breakout rooms, as well as many smaller rooms, which positions the venue as a conference centre-style meeting space in our opinion.
Location:
Located at Heathrow Airport within a complimentary 5-minute shuttle ride of Terminal 1, 2 and 3 and 10 minutes to terminal 5. The M25 and M3 motorways are 10 minutes drive from the hotel.
Access to central London can be made via the Heathrow Express to London Paddington or via the Piccadilly Underground line which runs into the west end of the city to stations such as Hammersmith, Earls Court (site of Earls court exhibition centre) and of course Piccadilly.
Extensive, free parking for meeting participants is available for 650 cars at the hotel.
Design:
The building is modern in design, with refurbishments made over the years to give the hotel a contemporary, business-like feel. The frontage is dominated by large glass windows, with modest architectural styling to the accommodation blocks that extend from the front of the hotel. This is a substantial property in terms of its size, facilities and "hustle and bustle" associated with that of an airport hotel managing many arrivals and departures of those on business and using the hotel before departing on holiday.
Bedrooms:
The 637 sleeping rooms are simple in design, slightly larger than many in this location, and uncomplicated in appointment. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, as well as the now-standard flat-screen television, safe, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
Restaurant:
The main hotel restaurant, the RGB restaurant and bar, is located on the ground floor, adjacent to the reception area and close to the Orbiter conference centre. It serves a buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. The restaurant is designed in a fusion style; rustic meets American diner style (that's our description) and is a relaxed space nicely decorated without being fine dining in appointment or menu selection. The lobby bar and restaurant offer all-day dining options, particularly for lunch, and are located in the heart of this bustling airport hotel reception.
Meeting space:
The hotel offers a great deal of flexibility for meetings and is an important part of its daily operations. There are two available locations. The Orbiter conference centre is located near the front of the hotel near reception, and the Aviator conference centre is located at the back of the hotel with direct access to the rear parking areas. A corridor of syndicate/breakout rooms connects the Aviator to the hotel reception and the Orbiter. This means that when necessary, meetings can be held in two exclusive areas of the hotel. The spaces can be configured in a variety of ways, with multiple options for plenary rooms for investigator or training meetings, as well as really flexible, large and small breakout and exhibition spaces.
Experience:
Due to its location near the airport, motorways and nearby healthcare companies, the hotel's meeting space regularly host healthcare meetings of all types.
Fitness:
The hotel has a discreetly located fitness room and pool near the main lobby area. There is no spa, and in our opinion, the fitness facilities are not a key feature of how the hotel promotes itself to the business, leisure, and meetings markets.
Compliance Hotspot
As a business hotel close to the airport, we do not believe this hotel poses any significant compliance risks. Those who have been involved in compliance approval or meetings for many years may recall that the hotel previously promoted a 9-hole golf course at the back of the hotel, which many thought was a part of the hotel. This was never the case, and the golf course is no longer in operation.
