General Overview:
The Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City is a 4-star hotel consisting of two modern towers centrally located in a business district of Amsterdam with easy access to the city centre.
Location:
The hotel is within a 7 -minute walk from Overamstel metro station that connects to the city centre of Amsterdam in 15 minutes and Schipol in 30 minutes. The RAI conference centre and the Zuid-as business districts can be reached in 3 minutes. The Schiphol Airport is a 14-minute ride by the metro and train and for delegates driving, the hotel has onsite parking for 120 cars.
Bedrooms:
The hotel has 368 rooms are located on 18 floors and over two tower blocks. There are 7 room types plus two suits and both the Classic and Business rooms can be considered appropriate for the allocation to HCPs. All rooms are modern and contemporary with pictures of Dutch culture giving a sense of the destination.
Meeting Space:
The hotel offers 14 meeting rooms, all located on the first floor with the largest room 1-6, when connecting walls are open, capable of accommodating up to 350 people in theatre style. The other meeting rooms provide options for other plenary, breakout, or catering rooms from 20 up to 60 when 7,8, and 9 are combined.
They are flexible and can be easily privatised for small advisory boards and training meetings as well for large product launches. The hotel is modern in design with a local touch.
For groups and private functions, the l’ambiance restaurant has space for x120 delegates. It can be privatised and for dinner meetings, black-out curtains are needed to cover the restaurant windows.
Restaurant:
The hotel’s main restaurant is called ‘FLOOR’= a la carte restaurant and is located on the ground floor and serves local cuisine. Restaurant L’Ambiance = the location for guest breakfast, Buffet- lunches and dinners.
Experience:
The hotel is suitable and has experience in managing healthcare meetings from internal sales conferences to external advisory boards and investigator meetings and with its close location to the RAI, can be used for congress accommodation.
Fitness:
As a business hotel, leisure facilities are not core to the positioning of the hotel however, guests have access to a fitness room with a sauna, located on the first floor near the meeting spaces however, there Is no pool and spa treatments are not available
The hotel website follows the standard Mercure template from Accor with the main focus of the imagery and language towards business guests. Some images accurately reflect the hotel's location next to the Amstel River, but the hotel is not near the main tourist areas of the city.
Hotel guests have access to a first-floor fitness room with a sauna however, there is no pool, and spa treatments are not available. A Google search will list a number of external sites that suggest the hotel has a private pool which is incorrect however, references to the hotel’s out-of-center location and 4-star rating can be trusted.
This venue is in a destination that has a strong offering for both business and leisure visitors. As a result, people's perceptions of the venue may differ depending on how they use the location for meetings. This venue is located close to a number of local tourist attractions. These, in our opinion, have no bearing on the venue's meeting proposition, as there is a clear separation between the hotel site and of the attractions.
