Overview
Melia Castilla & Convention Centre is the largest hotel in Madrid with a total of 909 guestrooms and 7,000 sqm of meeting spaces. It is a business property focused on the MICE segment and has actually been recently recogniced as one of the top properties in Europe for Meetings & Events.
Location
The Melia Castilla is very conveniently located in one of the most noble and prestigious areas in Madrid which is the North Castellana District, an area which perfectly combines a premium residential neighborhood and an financial business hub developed in the surroundings of the main boulevard connecting the city North to South and leading into the recently named UNESCO’s World Heritage Landscape of Arts, Science and Light
The Castellana area houses the Financial Insitute as well as some of the most representative companies and enterprises based in the city. You will also find the most well know restaurants in Madrid and some very fashionable yet elegant and high gastronomic spots to be and be seen in Madrid. You will also find the 2 high-end shopping malls within walking distance from the Hotel: Corte Ingles Nuevos Ministerios and Castellana 200, where you can find some of the most exclusive and haute-couture fashion brands.The Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is also 10 min walking distance from the Hotel, attracting not only sports fans but also some business groups as the stadium itself is becoming an important venue for the MICE industry holding large networking events and gala dinners. Moreover, the Thyssen Bornemisza and the Prado museums as well as the impressive Retiro Park (all three located in the Castellana Boulevard) will also take your breath away.
Design
The Hotel is decorated in a contemporary style, with modern, fresh and light spaces but with some more classic and elegant areas as well. There is a perfect and balanced combination in styles that can adapt to any kind of client and individuals, from business to leisure. The size of our public areas is large, but it still feels confortable and cozy compared to other properties of the same size where the Halls could reach impressive ceiling hights or extensive areas. Our spaces are well proportioned and dont give a "grandeur" feeling to our clients.
We count with an outdoors pool and garden area, which is only open for swimming in the summer time which is actually our low season for MICE business, meaing it doesnt interfere with the business activities of our clients and the events taking place in the Hotel. However it becomes an attractive space for events in the spring/autumn season when the pool is still not open to the public.
Meeting Space
The Convention Centre takes over 2 full floors of the Hotel; the main floor (or lobby level) and the lower floor (or ground floor as it is located on the same level as the pool and garden area of the Hotel).
The spaces are structured creating four independent meeting areas, located 2 on the lobby level and 2 on the lower level, each of them containing 1 plenary room, a networking area, few breakout spaces and a at least one office space for your event organization. We created areas that could accommodate groups independently, confortably and privately from other clients staying in the Hotel. Nevertheless, the distribution of the spaces and the flow between the different areas is so smooth and flexible that it also allow as to combine space from different areas and adapt our offer to large event requirements.
We also count with a direct access to the Convention Centre, separately from the main entrance to the Hotel; which can be accessed from a side street.
Experience
Healthcare sector is our key client at the moment. We have an extensive experience hosting pharmaceutical events, such as investigator meetings, product launches, pharma conventions, internal meetings, etc.; but also some some large medical congresses for 500-700 people that take place every year in the Hotel.
We have good connections with some of the main hospitals in Madrid, such as La Paz, Ramon y Cajal or Gregorio Marañon wich are within 10 minutes drive from the Hotel.
And for larger congresses taking place at IFEMA exhibition centre, we are a short 15 minutes drive away.
Fitness
We have a small 24h gym with some machines available, weights, fitness steps, yoga balls,etc. There is also a small wellness centre in the Hotel which offers massage, beauty treatments and a small sauna. There is no spa nor thermal facilities in the Hotel.
Restaurants and Bars
We have a small bar at the lobby, for coffees and refreshment drinks a apart from the main Pelicano Bar (located at the end of the lobby) serving drinka and a casual menu for lunch and dinner, with international dishes and also some traditional tapas.
However our signature restaurant is L'Albufera (located in the lower level of the Hotel) is specialized in mediterranean cuisine and paellas, being recognized as the best traditional paellas restaurant in the world in 2 occasions. It is a very well know restaurant in the city but has not received any special prizes and is not fine dining experience.
