Compliance Summary

The Radisson Blu Edwardian, Kenilworth is an easily accessible central London hotel located on Great Russell Street, opposite the sister hotel Bloomsbury Street. Tottenham Court Road tube station is on the Charing Cross branch of the Northern Line and the Central Line which ensures easy access to all areas in London. The area of Bloomsbury in which the hotel is located is well known for its literary connections, garden squares, and numerous cultural, educational, and some healthcare institutions.

The hotel has 186 bedrooms and 8 small to medium size meeting rooms, the largest is the Private Room 11 & 12, and combined accommodates up to 64 cabaret/110 theatre style. This 4-star hotel is Edwardian in character and this is reflected in the architecture and furnishings throughout the building.

All the meeting rooms are located on the lower ground and ground floor of the hotel, away from the general public, so privacy and confidentiality can be assured to for the healthcare sector. The space lends itself well to advisory boards, speaker meetings, and training, as well as being appropriate for internal meetings such as international brand team or sales meetings.

The Radisson Blu Edwardian, Kenilworth Hotel is situated in a 19th Century red brick building, in the heart of Bloomsbury in central London. The Edwardian era of this building is reflected in the interior through the furnishings and the marble floors of the public areas. Due to its location, the majority of residents staying throughout the week are business travellers, however at weekends the dynamic changes to leisure visitors.

The central London location of the venue is easily accessible from all the mainline train stations servicing the capital as well as London Heathrow Airport which is approximately a 40-minute drive or 15 minutes by cab from the Heathrow Express terminal at Paddington. There are several healthcare institutes close to the venue with Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine only a 15-minute walk away.

There are three distinct spaces for meetings with 8 rooms in total, which are all equipped with an LCD projector and screen and complimentary WIFI. There is a small fitness room onsite located on the lower ground floor, however, this does not impact with the meeting experience. The Scoff & Banter restaurant and bar are traditional in design with the use of a muted colour scheme and velour fabrics which are complemented by the natural daylight throughout this area.

The restaurant has 90 covers and is divided into a mixture of individual tables and banquets offering the flexibility to accommodate groups for lunch and dinner. There is also a semi-private dining area that can accommodate groups of 35 persons seated on a mixture of booths and tables.

In our opinion, this venue is appropriate for small Advisory Board and Key Opinion Leader meetings, as well as product training and all types of smaller international or domestic internal meetings where a city location is required to hold healthcare meetings, this venue in our opinion is ideally located with good public transport access.

The Radisson Blu Edwardian, Kenilworth, as with all the hotels within this brand, has greatly benefited from the financial investment the owners have made into the product. The historic character of the building has been retained throughout the public areas, bedrooms, and meeting space giving the hotel a sense of calmness and elegance without opulence.

There are 8 meeting rooms at the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Kenilworth and they are spread over the lower ground and ground floors of the hotel. All the meeting rooms on the lower ground have natural daylight, apart from two, however, these have daylight-effect lighting. Due to the layout of the lower ground floor, this space is not DDA compliant (Disability Discrimination Act).

All meeting rooms are equipped with a data projector and screen, with some having a small foyer area for refreshments and lunches. The meeting space on this floor can be divided into 2 separate areas. The first one holds Private Room 11 and Private Room 12. These two rooms open out into each other and combined can seat up to 54 cabaret/100 theatre style.

The second area of meeting rooms is still on the lower ground floor where there are further two meeting rooms. Private Rooms 14 and 15 can both accommodate smaller meetings up to 14 boardroom style in each. Both of these rooms have natural daylight and are again furnished in neutral tones and the private location of this area in the hotel is ideal for confidential meetings.

The third meeting area is on the ground floor, where there are a further four meeting rooms with Private Rooms 9 & 10 being the largest as they open into one. The maximum capacity in this space is 42 cabaret/90 theatre and has plenty of natural daylight from the large windows in the room. The other two rooms on this floor are smaller with Private Room 7 holding up to 16 boardroom style whilst Private room 8 holds up to 8 boardroom style without the use of the screen and 6 with the use of the screen. Both these rooms are again bathed in plenty of natural daylight.

Due to the layout of meeting areas on both floors, we feel these meeting rooms are appropriate for meetings in the Healthcare sector as it provides an intimate feel away from the public view.

The Radisson Blu Edwardian, Kenilworth has a total of 186 bedrooms: 28 single rooms (15 standard and 13 superior), 75 standard doubles, 29 standard twins, 40 king deluxe, 10 Business Class and 4 suites.

The décor of the bedrooms is similar for each category with mahogany furniture and neutral tones and velour fabrics whilst all the bathrooms are clad in marble. All rooms are air-conditioned, designed for the business traveller and include a safe, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, and iPod docking station and hairdryer. All rooms have tea & coffee-making facilities and a fully stocked mini-bar however these can be emptied upon request. Complimentary bottled water is placed in each room and is restocked daily.

Due to a large number of standard rooms, in our opinion, the Kenilworth lends itself well to healthcare sector residential meetings.

The superior and deluxe rooms are slightly larger in size, and have additional amenities including bathrobes and slippers, with the addition of a coffee machine in business class rooms and suites. These rooms can be adapted into standard rooms by removing the extra amenities making them more appropriate for healthcare meetings.

The service levels are consistent with a venue suitable for healthcare meetings and events. The staff-to-guest ratio is that of a business hotel and the service is warm and friendly without being that of a luxury or high-end venue.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel which was consistent in strength during our visit. A secure login process is required and set up for each event – Wi-Fi is included in the day delegate package
