GENERAL POSITIONING
It is a venue offering appropriate facilities for events from 1-400 delegates, be this within the clinical or sales and marketing environment. All types of delegate would be appropriate for this venue including junior and senior delegate groups. Rates reflects the higher costs within this geography but should be carefully considered in terms of the business case for the event and location. The hotel currently works with a number of healthcare clients and is close to the Pharmaceutical Corridor in Hertfordshire
SALES & MARKETING
Generally the website and collateral is appropriate and focuses on the venue being 4* and suitable for business, but when doing a google search the word “luxurious” can be found to describe the venue. The Angel Wine Tower is evident but is not considered to be a significant attraction to draw delegates to the venue. A targeted pharmaceutical flyer is used to highlight benefits
LOCATION
The venue is a modern purpose built building, situated in a location conducive to doing business as conveniently located next to London Stansted Airport (linked) and conveniently accessible from M10, M25 and A1 motorways.
FIT FOR PURPOSE
The venue positions itself very much as a functional, comfortable yet appropriately stylish business hotel serving corporate clients as well as the transient leisure and corporate traveller. The meeting rooms are well designed with lots of breakout areas and a conveniently located Business Centre. The bedrooms are rather colourful and modern in design. There is a mix of restaurant facilities with the main restaurant offering a good variety and standard of F&B. The hotel already supports healthcare meetings.
FACILITIES
Public areas are business/airport focused. The Angel Wine Tower is a central feature of the main lobby bar but only operational between 7 pm – 11 pm or upon request. However, whilst entertaining, it is not deemed an inducement for delegates to attend meetings here and we would recommend private dinners/functions be organised to avoid exposure to this facility during these times. Please note, it is available to delegates to view during their leisure time if they are staying overnight.
Meeting Rooms: Conference & Banqueting Rooms are of a high standard. The main room is located on the ground floor with its own lobby area and the Business Centre is conveniently located close by.
Bedrooms: are practical for business use with functional facilities and amenities. We would caution bookers to consider carefully the use of upgraded Business Rooms as the incremental cost and facilities are not deemed necessary as the standard rooms are perfectly acceptable and offer a good standard of accommodation and facilities.
Leisure: There are good leisure facilities with a pool, gym, and treatment rooms but these can be found on the lower ground floor not visible from the main hotel environment and would not be an inducement to attend a meeting here.
SERVICE
Reception was well staffed and welcoming. There is a Concierge Desk but no doormen. Conference & Banqueting support can be accessed via the Business Centre
As a business hotel at an airport location there is little to justify compliance concerns. The wine tower located in the bar / atrium space is a significant design feature.
