General Overview
The Radisson Blu Paris Marne Le Vallee is a 4-star, smart, contemporary 4-story hotel set within, but not initially visible to, the Val d'europe golf course and located close to the Disney theme park. Therefore, it would be understandable that the market impression may be that the Radisson Blu is a Disney hotel. However, the reality is that once guests enter through the main entrance gates, there is little reference to the park and, in isolation, this is a hotel purpose-built for conference business and not a part of the Disney experience.
Location
The hotel is located 7 minutes from the international Marne-la-Vallée station which provides direct international train links to Lille, Belgium and London, England by Eurostar, and national rail links to Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice, Lyon, Rennes, Nantes, Limoges, Toulouse, Montpellier, Orléans, and Grenoble. Charles De Gaulle International Airport is reachable in 12 minutes and Gare De Lyon, Paris can be reached by train in 40 minutes. For those driving there is outdoor parking for 250 cars.
All 15 meeting rooms are on the ground floor and offer natural daylight and air conditioning with no pillars and a 2.8m ceiling height. Twelve of the 15 rooms can be found in one wing, adjacent to the Birdie Restaurant, with 9 meeting rooms suitable for smaller, ad board style meetings of up to 22 boardroom style. The two largest spaces are the Paris and Nice, accommodating 190 and 50 respectively in classroom style. With most of the meeting and function spaces on the ground floor, this presents an opportunity for any healthcare company to privatise the floor for larger meeting types. The hotel offers 250 room across 6 categories from Standard and Business Class to Suites and Presidential Suites however, only Standard Rooms will be proposed for meetings attended by Healthcare Professionals
The hotel is surrounded by three 9-hole golf courses, which are managed externally and would not form part of any proposal that is aimed at meetings attended by Healthcare Professionals.
The Evasion Wellness Centre is located on the ground floor and in the opposite corner of the building to the main meeting space so would not be a distraction to attending delegates. Facilities offered are modest and consistent with other hotels of this nature. It is not central to the hotel's core offering and would therefore not form part of any proposal that relates to external meetings.
The Birdie Restaurant is the hotel’s main restaurant and is used for buffet breakfast. Overlooking the inner courtyard and gardens it is also the location for group lunches and dinners. Areas may be reserved but for privatised lunches and dinners, a meeting room must be hired.
The mix of meeting room sizes, location, and access makes the Radisson Blu Paris, Marne-laVallée a good option for national and regional internal meetings and the hotel already has experience in holding sales, team meetings and product launches.
The hotel was purpose-built in a chateau style and is located in an area close to residential housing estates and farmland. However, its immediate surroundings comprise of the Val d'europe Golf Course so any external images will naturally include an element of the course. The golf club is Resonance Golf Group owned and managed and has a clubhouse located at the entrance but outside the hotel grounds and car park.
The Radisson Blu hotel is located just a 5-minute complimentary hotel shuttle ride away from Marne-la-Vallée-Chessy station. Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy is a combined RER (commuter rail) and TGV (high-speed train) station in Chessy, France, about 30 km (19 mi) east of Paris. The station is located inside Disneyland Paris, in front of the entrances to the two theme parks and Disney Village. There are direct TGV services to, among others, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice, Lyon, Rennes, Nantes, Limoges, Toulouse, Montpellier, Orléans and Grenoble.
Charles De Gaulle International Airport is a direct 12-minute TGV ride away from Marne-laVallée–Chessy or a 40-minute car transfer. Orly Airport is a 45-minute drive away using the nearby main A4 motorway. From Paris Gare De Lyon, you take a 40-minute direct RER A train to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy. Marne–la–Vallée–Chessy is also a station servicing the International rail routes using Thalys and direct Eurostar trains to/from Lille, Belgium and London, England.
Experience
The Radisson Blu Paris, Marne-la-Vallée is a conference hotel and regularly holds internal meetings for large pharmaceutical companies. Radisson Blu created, as part of their core strategy for business meetings, the ‘Experience Meetings’ concept for meetings and events, which is said to harmonise the meetings essentials: breakout rooms, food and connectivity with service, satisfaction and sustainability.
The ‘Brain Box’ breakout room is a break out meeting room designed to support creative thinking by providing relaxed seating, walls you can write on, colours to spark the brain and refreshments to stimulate ideas. Complimentary wi-fi is provided and personal details are not required however, for quicker speeds and additional security, a dedicated line can be installed at a cost. For internal meetings or advisory boards for HCPs, Brain Box rooms can provide an excellent alternative option for these types of meeting programme. ‘Brain Food’ is another Radisson Blu brand standard and an innovative and responsible food & drinks solution created by nutritionists to help energise and keep meeting attendees alert. “There is a clearly defined “Yes I Can” service philosophy together with a 100% guest satisfaction guarantee to show how important service is to Radisson Blu. Complimentary wi-fi is provided, and personal details are not required however, for quicker speeds and additional security, a dedicated line can be installed at an additional cost.
The hotels main reception is located on the ground floor and is accessed from the hotel’s car park. Delegates are welcomed by a generous lounge/foyer area with numerous pod style check-in desks to the left and the Chardon bar with open fire to the right, which then leads to the main meeting spaces.
There is a pool and fussball table by the open fire which is the only hint of any leisure-based activities and can be removed during healthcare meetings. There are a few pull-up banners notifying guests of the nearby leisure park, but these are removed during the working week. During the holidays the two lobby-located meeting rooms are changed into games rooms, but these are converted back to meeting rooms during conferences.
Meeting Space
All 15 meeting rooms are on the ground floor and offer natural daylight and air conditioning with no pillars and a 2.8m ceiling height. Twelve of the 15 rooms can be found in one wing adjacent, to the Birdie Restaurant, with 9 meeting rooms suitable for smaller, ad board-style meetings of up to 22 boardroom-style. The two largest spaces are the Paris and Nice accommodating 190 and 50 respectively in classroom style. With most of the meeting and function spaces on the ground floor, this presents an opportunity for any healthcare company to privatise the floor for larger meeting types. All meeting rooms have the same simple styling with multi-coloured patterned carpets, plain cream walls, light brown curtains and tables but there is no theming to suggest a higher-level meeting product.
For healthcare meetings tea/coffee breaks can be taken in the foyer areas of meeting spaces as the external terrace or the inner courtyard/gardens have views across the golf course and may not be considered appropriate for more risk-averse healthcare companies. A well-equipped organiser’s room, located on the ground floor, gives access to PCs, printers and photocopier and in the lobby two computers with printers allow guests to print boarding cards.
Bedrooms
The hotel has 250 bedrooms in total across three-bedroom floors. Standard rooms are of 30m² and include a sofa-bed, flat screen TV, fridge (no minibar), laptop safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Bathroom toiletries are the Radisson Blu’s own brand and is replicated in all room types. Bedroom décor in standard rooms is either modern and warm or shades of orange with light wood furniture.
Business rooms are the same size and are distinguishable by free room service, including breakfast, and come with Nespresso machine, newspaper, robe and slippers. Guests are invited to receive VIP treatments when booking Business and higher category rooms, so these would not be appropriate for allocating to HCPs.
There are four suites, which offer the same amenities as Business rooms, but come with separate lounge areas.
Restaurant
The Birdie Restaurant is the hotel’s main restaurant and is used for buffet breakfast. Overlooking the inner courtyard and gardens it is also the location for group lunches and dinners. Areas may be reserved but for privatised lunches and dinners, a meeting room must be hired. The restaurant is not themed, and the décor is a warm-coloured mix of tables with some booth seating for small groups. Buffets are served from a centrally positioned dedicated room.
The Pamplemousse Restaurant is the hotel’s elegant fine dining restaurant but for external healthcare meetings, this would not be proposed.
The Chardon Bar is located on the Ground Floor to the right side of the lobby entrance, which leads to the meeting space and Birdie restaurant. The bar is of a simple oval layout without significant theming but has an open fire (chimnee) which dominates the central seating area and makes for a relaxed atmosphere for teas/coffees and other drinks. The outdoor terrace area is used during the summer months and overlooks the inner courtyard gardens and herb garden.
Fitness:
The Wellness centre located on the ground floor and in one corner of the building on the opposite side and well away from any meeting space so would not be a distraction to attending delegates. Available to guests only, the facilities include free weights and fitness machines. There is a small pool, a sauna and steam room, plus two treatment rooms allowing guests to pre-book treatments. The facilities are modest and, in our opinion, consistent with other hotels of this nature. It is not central to the hotel core offering and would not form part of any proposal where HCPs are in attendance.
The location of the Radisson Blu Paris, Marne-la-Vallée, surrounded by the Disneyland Golf Course and its proximity to the theme park, will leave an impression on guests, so online collateral naturally positions itself to the leisure market, but it is supported by a strong meetings and events product.
Other Sales and marketing collateral is in line with the Radisson Blu Experience Meetings brand and is purely focussed on the detail for meeting organisers with images taken on the property however, one meeting set up does have the golf course in its background as a true reflection of the overall setting of the venue.
External leisure travel websites understandably support the idea that a hotel is a strong option for the leisure/family market who wish to use the hotel as a base to visit the leisure park however, the overall focus of offline hotel collateral is on meetings and events as a primary income driver. The hotel manages Twitter and Facebook pages, which typically provide postings, images, and comments relating to more leisure-focused events held at the venue or at the nearby leisure park. The hotel does not have its own LinkedIn page, but Radisson Blu does have a brand page giving an overview of its 300 properties across 69 countries.
The service levels are consistent with a venue suitable for healthcare meetings and events. There is no sign the venue attempts to use service and a guest-to-staff ratio to leverage luxury impressions.
The hotel is surrounded by a golf course but it is not owned or managed by the hotel. Naturally, some images show the hotel with the course in the background.
The Evasion Wellness fitness area is located on the ground floor and in one corner of the building on the opposite side and well away from any meeting space so would not be a distraction to attending delegates.
The Pamplemousse Restaurant is the hotel’s elegant dining restaurant but for external healthcare meetings, this would not be proposed.
