Compliance Summary

General Positioning:

The Radisson Blu Hotel Paris Boulogne is a contemporary four-star hotel positioned for business and leisure with facilities to support international and regional meetings.

Located in the heart of the business district west of the traditional centre of Paris, Charles De Gaulle International Airport is just over an hour away by car transfer or 45 minutes by train and Orly Airport is 30 minutes away by car and 25 minutes by train. For those driving the hotel offer 20 private parking for guests.

Porte de Saint-Cloud metro station is a 2-minute walk away and all Paris’ major train stations, including Gare du Nord, can be reached under 30 minutes.

Sporting venues such as Roland Garros and Parc de Princes are within a short walk away but are not visible from the hotel and would not be a dominating feature for meeting delegates.

170 guestrooms were renovated and completed in January 2018 and are split into three categories; Superior is the hotels standard category and there are x115 in Superior, x45 Business, x10 Suites.

The hotel has 6 meeting rooms all with natural daylight on the Ground Floor, including the largest Cabernet and Sauvignon which can accommodate 110 in classroom style.

The Cabernet and Sauvignon are adjoining rooms that individually can accommodate 110 and 120 theatre style, suitable for product and national sales meetings. The other four rooms, located on the other side of the lobby area, can be used for breakouts or as privatised catering space - these meeting rooms offer the seclusion required for key opinion leader and mid-size healthcare meetings.

The A.O.C. restaurant and terrace provides guests a place for buffet breakfast, lunches and dinners. The interior provides the majority of seating and is of a stylish décor with dark wood flooring, white and purple velvet chairs and artwork provide a sense of style but not one associated with fine dining restaurants. The terrace is the hotel restaurants peaceful outdoor seating area and offers the same menu. This would not be considered luxury and is not used in winter months and has room for c.30 guests.

The hotel does offer guests use of a modest fitness centre which is not visible to meeting attendees. There is no pool or spa facilities.

The Radisson Blu Hotel Paris Boulogne has the location and facilities to support international, regional and national healthcare meetings where ease of travel is a priority and already has significant experience in that sector.

With the Le Palais de Congres and Porte Versailles congress centres both only a 15-minute car journey away the venue is often used during international medical society meetings for accommodation and add-on meetings such as investigator meetings, press launches and other meetings supporting congress attendance. The hotel is also listed as a preferred hotel for a number of Global Healthcare companies for both transient and meetings, many of which have national offices located close by.

Sales and Marketing:

The Radisson Blu Hotel Paris Boulogne draws on its location and meetings facilities to attract the meetings market and those wishing to use the hotel for a short stay whilst attending sporting events at nearby stadium.

The hotels website uses the images of the hotels terrace, bedroom and lobby on its homepage and with the language used in descriptions, offers a mainly business focus to its offering and does not try to elevate facilities to suggest a luxury position.

Sales and marketing collateral is in line with the Radisson Blu Experience Meetings brand and is focussed on the detail for meeting organisers and uses images of the city centre to provide a location reference, and suggestions for things to see. These in our opinion should not detract from the core business positioning of the venue.

The hotels website holds a video and a picture gallery that offer an insight into the hotel. Professionally presented, they offer a realistic reflection of the hotels modern and contemporary business and meetings décor and facilities, which, in our opinion, is in line with a business level 4-star property, considered appropriate for healthcare sector meetings and events.

The Hotel’s website refers to the restaurant being listed in the Michelin Guide however, this is a paid listing and the restaurant is not star rated.

External popular leisure travel websites support the hotels 4-star rating and concentrate on the hotels facilities for the business or leisure traveller.

Typically, the hotels social media pages, Facebook and Instagram, carry images from leisure-based activities experienced when staying at the hotel. The hotel does not have its own LinkedIn page, but Radisson Blu do have a brand page providing an overview of their 300 properties across 69 countries.

The Radisson brand can be reliably considered a brand for business, without the risks associated with some high end or luxury hotel groups.

Location and Setting:

The Radisson Blu Hotel Boulogne Paris sits on a leafy main road in a business district to the west of central Paris, surrounded by local businesses and residential apartment blocks.

The hotel was purpose built with a corporate feel with white and brown panels and a glass exterior. The Interior of the hotel carries through the exterior feel as a light, contemporary, comfortable product rather than one aiming for the luxury market.

Paris is home to the national offices of global medical device and healthcare companies and the hotel has preferred hotel agreements with many of them.

With the two-large congress centres of Pairs expo Porte de Versailles and the Palais de Congres within 15 minutes away and the hotel already supports internal sales and training meetings and external HCP meetings some as a result of congress activity.

The hotel is 3kms away from the Hopital Ambroise Paré and the Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompido is 3 kms away which is a clinical research centre.

Fit for Purpose:

With its location in a business district to the west of central Paris, the hotel positions itself a venue for business meetings and leisure travellers wishing to use the hotel as a base.

The hotel is already used for international, regional and national healthcare meetings.

Radisson Blu created, as part of their core strategy for business meetings, the ‘Experience Meetings’ concept for meetings and events, that is said to harmonise the meetings essentials: breakout rooms, food and connectivity with service, satisfaction and sustainability.

The ‘Brain Box’ breakout room is a break out meeting room designed to support creative thinking by providing relaxed seating, walls you can write on, colours to spark the brain and refreshments to stimulate ideas. Complimentary Wi-fi is provided and personal details are not required however, for quicker speeds and additional security, a dedicated line can be installed at a cost.

‘Brain Food’ is another Radisson Blu brand standard and an innovative and responsible food & drinks solution created by nutritionists to help energise and keep meeting attendees alert.

“There is a clearly defined “Yes I Can” service philosophy together with a 100% guest satisfaction guarantee to show how important service is to Radisson Blu.

Facilities:

Delegates enter the glass fronted building from the ground floor enter a two floor, open, modern and contemporary space with casual seating area in front.

Behind the pod style reception desks to the left are four of the six meeting rooms.

The other two, larger rooms, can be found to the opposite end of the ground floor past the AOC Restaurant.

Meetings:

Meeting rooms are named after French wines, but they are not themed in any way and all rooms are simply decorated with white walls with red carpets, chairs and curtains.

For events that require privacy the adjacent Sauvignon and Cabernet rooms combine to offer a plenary and catering room. If a larger space is required without the need of private catering, these rooms can combine to accommodate 220 in theatre style or 180 in cabaret style with the nearby AOC Restaurant for lunch and dinner.

For smaller meeting types such as advisory board meetings, the four other rooms located on the ground floor can accommodate 15 - 25 in a U-shape setting.

Bedrooms:

There are 170 fully renovated bedrooms (completed in 2018), split into three categories; Superior is the hotels standard category and there are x115 in Superior, x45 Business, x10 Suites.

Superior rooms, in our opinion, are appropriate for HCPs and provide 28sqm of space with flat screen TV, air conditioning and tea/coffee facilities. Decorated in orange and copper tones in a cork and wood style with white bedding these rooms are contemporary in styling but do not suggest a luxury product. Some superior rooms do include a small balcony that either overlook the inner vineyard or the Eiffel Tower, however, the tower is seen from a distance and would not be considered, nor sold as an upgrade.

Business rooms are the same size as the superior rooms with the addition of a Nespresso coffee machine. These rooms, are not larger in size to Superior Rooms and would not be considered luxury or deluxe but, along with the Suites, would represent an upgrade and therefore their allocation to HCPs might not be appropriate to some organisations.

Bathrooms have light beige floor and wall tiles that provide a clean and light feel. Bath tubs and showers are in all rooms and come with the own brand “This Works” toiletries.

Restaurant:

The A.O.C. restaurant and adjacent lounge with 130 covers and terrace with 30 provides guests a place for buffet breakfast, lunches and dinners. Located on the ground floor and overlooking the terrace, the interior provides the majority of seating and is of a stylish décor with dark brown wood flooring, white table cloths with purple velvet chairs and artwork that provide a sense of style, but not one associated with fine dining restaurants.

The terrace is the hotel restaurants peaceful outdoor seating area and offers the same menu. This would not be considered luxury and is not used in winter months and has room for c.30 guests.

There are no private rooms within the restaurant so for smaller meetings, tables can be reserved but a meeting room would be required for private functions.

The AOC Restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide however, this is a paid listing and the restaurant is not star rated.

Bar:

The hotels AOC Lounge and Bar is hidden behind the lobby on the ground floor. Decorated in purple carpet, red chairs and ark wood shelving carrying books, it has a library feel however, the bar would not form any formal part of any healthcare meetings programme that involve HCPs.

Leisure:

Guests of the hotel have complimentary access to the fitness area which provides machines and some free weights. There are no pool or spa facilities.

Service:

The hotel does provide Concierge Services to assistance with luggage and travel, but there is no sign that the venue attempts to use service and a guest to staff ratio to leverage luxury impressions. Levels are therefore consistent with a venue suitable for healthcare meetings and events.

The Radisson Hotel group is actively involved in the Think Planet scheme and the Radisson Blu Hotel Paris Boulogne is a Green Key hotel which represents an independent third-party audit of each hotel’s practises and actions to protect the environment.

The Radisson Points membership programme offers meetings and professionals Points for each booking which leads to complimentary hotel stays and upgrades - this is consistent to other hotel brands and should not be a deciding factor when booking this hotel for a healthcare meeting.

Compliance Hotspot

This venue is in a destination that has a strong offering for both business and leisure visitors. As a result, people's perceptions of the venue may differ depending on how they use the location for meetings. This venue is located close to a number of local tourist attractions. These, in our opinion, have no bearing on the venue's meeting proposition, as there is a clear separation between the hotel site and that of the attractions.
