General Overview
The Apex City Hotel, Dundee is a 4* hotel with a mix of facilities and services for the leisure and business markets with 151 bedrooms and 10 individual meeting spaces large enough to hold conferences for up to 375 in theatre style making business event a key focus of the hotel.
Location
Located in the city, the hotel overlooks the waterfront, and is close to, but not overlooking tourist attractions.
Although city centre, Dundee’s International Airport is 5 miles away and 10 minutes away by car or taxi. Dundee’s train station is a 5- minute walk away and connects the city with Perth, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
For delegates arriving by car, the hotel’s on-site car park is managed externally and has 130 spaces, and not located in any Low Emission Zones
Coaches can drop off outside the main entrance and park in the main hotel car park.
Design
The external design of the Apex City Quay Hotel is a sleek, modern, and contemporary, relatively low-rise building, with clean lines and large glass panels and windows that reflect the nearby waterfront.
The modern, contemporary design is also reflected inside with a modern, sleek, and stylish ambiance, combining comfort with contemporary aesthetics.
Meeting Space
All 10 meeting spaces are accessed from public areas and located on our ground floor and mezzanine levels, and benefit from natural day light and air conditioning.
The City Quay suite is the hotel’s largest space on the ground floor and supports a wide variety of set ups, e.g., 180 guests in cabaret style or up to 400 theatre, located just outside the suite is a set of public bathrooms.
All other spaces are on the mezzanine level and ranging in size from 12 in a boardroom style and up to 100 for a dinner meeting. Three out of the ten rooms on the mezzanine floor have hybrid facilities.
Residential Conferences for up to 150 attendees, private dinners, and receptions work well here as well as smaller board meetings, and AGMs for smaller companies.
Catering can be provided in the Mezzanine Library and would be semi-private.
Bedrooms
The hotel has 7-bedroom floors, the Ground, Mezzanine, and floors, 1-5
All rooms include business amenities such as a work desk, laptop safe / tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary wi-fi, iron, ironing board and Belu mineral water, unstocked mini fridge, and complimentary Antipodes toiletries.
Standard rooms include unstocked mini fridge, but bathrobes and Nespresso machines are included in Superior rooms upwards and can be removed if additional rooms are required for HCP allocation.
Restaurant
The ground floor Quayside Bar and Grill seats x120 and serves British cuisine and can be privatised but for dinner meetings, a meeting room is required.
Experience
The hotel has experience in hosting pharma companies, mainly internal meetings training meetings for NHS Scotland;
A local hospital, and NHS providers are close to the hotel, and have held meetings for life science companies historically, also the Abertay University, and the University of Dundee.
Fitness
The hotel offers guests a Fitness suite with free weights and exercise machines.
The hotel’s Yu Spa includes a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna on site which is managed by the hotel. These facilities are located on the ground floor and separated from the rest of the hotel and not visible from any meeting space.
The hotel's website and external travel sites list the hotel name as the Apex City Hotel and Spa. Materials created for meeting being held here that include HCPs, will need to mindful of this to avoid delegates considering its facilities as the reason to attend a meeting here. The Yu Spa are located on the ground floor and is not visible from public and meeting space areas.
Its central Dundee location and facilities are marketed to attracte the weekend leisure market and in our opinion, should not distract bookers from considering this as a business hotel with extensive meeting facilities.
