Compliance Summary
General Overview:
ICM – International Congress Center Messe München is a dedicated conference centre primarily serving the business market. Meetings and events constitute the core of its business operations, making it a significant destination for professional and corporate gatherings, particularly within the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
Location
ICM – International Congress Center Messe München is located approximately 20 minutes outside of Munich’s city centre in a commercial area within the Messe München complex. It is surrounded by exhibition and event infrastructure and does not face any major tourist attractions. The venue is accessible by underground public transport, offering sustainable transport links for delegates. Parking is extensive, with a multi-storey car park managed by an external provider and an outdoor parking area covering 400,000 sqm (availability subject to event bookings). Coaches can drop off and park directly in front of the ICM entrance.
Design
Externally, the venue’s architecture is characterised by a modern style incorporating concrete, brick, and glass materials. The internal environment continues this contemporary theme, with a focus on clean lines and functional space distribution. Public areas, foyers, and meeting rooms are designed for high footfall while allowing for privacy and security. Multiple entrances enhance discrete access options for confidential meetings and sensitive event types.
Meeting Spaces
The venue comprises 47 fixed meeting rooms arranged across three levels: the ground floor (foyers, business centre, conference rooms, and a 3,000 sqm exhibition hall), the first floor (foyer, conference rooms with direct access to a trade fair hall), and the second floor (additional meeting and conference rooms). The largest theatre-style space accommodates 3,000 persons, expandable to 6,000–9,000 using adjacent halls. Eleven rooms are co-located on the same floor as the main theatre space. Flexible configurations and in-house support enable the venue to host a variety of event types, including medical congresses and global launches. The exhibition space of hall B0 at the ICM can be extended to the adjacent halls (18 halls of 10,000 and 11,000 sqm) to accommodate a larger exhibition space.
Bedrooms
There are no on-site accommodation facilities at ICM. Delegates and organisers must utilise nearby hotels for overnight stays.
Restaurant and Public Spaces
ICM does not feature a fixed on-site restaurant. Catering services are provided by Messe München’s official caterer, with menus available in various formats tailored to client needs. Catering can be arranged in the ICM foyer or within exhibition halls, and spaces are capable of full privatisation to ensure compliance. Clients are also permitted to appoint their own caterers. There are no public bars or lounges advertised as part of the venue’s offering.
Experience
The venue is experienced in hosting a wide range of healthcare and life sciences events, including international medical congresses and product launches. It operates in collaboration with the Munich Convention Bureau to facilitate connections with local universities, hospitals, and life science companies, supporting a compliant and educational event environment. Event capacities can scale from small meetings to congresses hosting thousands of delegates.
Fitness
The ICM does not provide on-site fitness, spa, or wellness facilities.
Compliance Hotspot
The ICM is a conference centre and not a classified hotel, and as such does not hold a formal star rating. The venue does not promote luxury, entertainment, or award-winning attributes, aligning with compliance expectations for healthcare meetings. Language on the venue’s official website avoids terms such as "luxury," "spectacular," or "entertainment-focused," supporting its appropriateness for healthcare-related events.
