Meetings and events form an important part of the hotel’s core business, with dedicated conference facilities supporting healthcare meetings, pharmaceutical events, corporate conferences, training programmes, seminars, and social functions. The hotel offers 203 guest bedrooms, 9 meeting rooms, approximately 1,000 square metres of event space, restaurant and bar facilities, outdoor terraces, and leisure amenities. The property combines contemporary conference infrastructure with a location close to San Sebastián’s principal commercial, residential, and cultural areas.
Barceló Costa Vasca is located within San Sebastián in a predominantly residential area of the city. The hotel benefits from proximity to the city’s principal attractions while remaining outside the busiest tourist zones. The surrounding environment consists primarily of residential buildings and urban neighbourhoods, providing a balanced setting suitable for both business and leisure visitors.
Delegates can access the hotel via San Sebastián Airport, Bilbao Airport, rail connections, or private vehicle. Public transport and rail links provide sustainable travel options for delegates travelling from across Spain and internationally. The hotel offers a private underground car park with capacity for approximately 300 vehicles, managed by the hotel. Coaches can drop off and collect delegates directly outside the main hotel entrance within a private parking area. The hotel does not operate an airport shuttle service.
The exterior architecture of Barceló Costa Vasca is contemporary in style and is characterised by an avant-garde façade incorporating grey metal panels. The building presents a modern appearance consistent with its positioning as a contemporary urban conference hotel.
Internally, the hotel features a modern avant-garde design following a comprehensive refurbishment completed in 2020. Public areas, meeting facilities, restaurants, and guest accommodation incorporate contemporary styling, creating a professional yet comfortable environment. The hotel’s conference facilities are integrated within the main building and are supported by reception areas, dining facilities, outdoor terraces, gardens, and leisure amenities.
The hotel offers approximately 1,000 square metres of meeting and event space comprising 9 meeting rooms located on a single dedicated conference floor. This layout supports efficient delegate flow and simplified event management, particularly for conferences requiring plenary sessions and breakout rooms. Several meeting rooms benefit from natural daylight and all are equipped with modern conference technology.
The largest meeting space is the Costa Vasca Room, offering approximately 730 square metres and accommodating up to 660 delegates in theatre-style configuration with front projection. All meeting rooms are located on the same conference floor as the Costa Vasca Room, allowing organisers to create flexible conference layouts incorporating plenary sessions, breakouts, exhibitions, and networking areas. Adjacent facilities include a dedicated welcome reception area, cocktail café, lobby bar, restaurant, outdoor terraces, gardens, and pool area. Selected meeting and event spaces can be privatised and operated on an exclusive-use basis, subject to occupancy levels and other events taking place within the hotel. The venue is particularly suited to medical congresses, pharmaceutical meetings, healthcare events, and corporate conferences.
The hotel offers 203 guest bedrooms distributed across seven accommodation floors, from the first through to the seventh floor. Accommodation categories include Superior Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, and Suites.
Guest rooms are equipped with amenities suitable for business travellers, including work desks, complimentary Wi-Fi, safety boxes, tea and coffee-making facilities, and ironing equipment. Superior Rooms include mini-fridges and kettles, which can be removed upon request where required for healthcare compliance purposes. The accommodation offering supports both conference delegates and individual business travellers attending events at the hotel.
The hotel’s primary dining venue is Ulia Restaurante, located on the ground floor. The restaurant serves a menu focused on local products and regional cuisine and accommodates approximately 140 guests. Ulia Restaurante can be fully privatised for exclusive-use events, healthcare dinners, and presentations where discussions and presentations must remain private and cannot be seen or heard by other guests.
Additional hospitality spaces include the lobby restaurant and bar area, which offers approximately 50 seats and serves à la carte dining. The hotel can also provide private dining and catering within meeting rooms and event spaces for groups ranging from 10 to 500 delegates. Conference foyers, terraces, and public areas support networking receptions, coffee breaks, and informal gatherings. Selected areas can be fully privatised where required.
Barceló Costa Vasca has experience hosting a variety of healthcare and life sciences meetings, including medical congresses, pharmaceutical meetings, investigator meetings, healthcare seminars, and product launches. The venue’s conference infrastructure, accommodation capacity, and healthcare meeting experience support both local and international healthcare events.
The hotel does not currently hold master service agreements with healthcare agencies. However, it actively works within the healthcare meetings marketplace and maintains access to healthcare organisations, research institutions, universities, hospital networks, and life sciences companies operating within the region.
Guests have access to fitness, swimming pool, and wellness facilities operated by Club Metropolitan, an independent external operator. The fitness centre is fully equipped with both exercise machines and free weights. Swimming pool and wellness facilities are also available through the same operator.
The hotel does not position itself as a spa or wellness destination despite offering access to these facilities. The fitness and wellness facilities are located on a separate lower ground floor (Level -1), physically separated from the hotel’s meeting and conference facilities. No additional leisure businesses, gaming facilities, retail outlets, or entertainment operations are located within the hotel.
Barceló Costa Vasca is an officially rated four-star hotel. The property positions itself primarily as an urban business and conference hotel, with meeting facilities forming an important part of its business model.
The venue does not provide regular live entertainment, DJ performances, or organised entertainment programmes, although entertainment can be arranged on request for private events. The hotel does not advertise any facilities as award-winning and does not actively promote tourist attractions as a reason to attend meetings at the property. Marketing materials focus primarily on accommodation, meeting facilities, location, and conference services.
From a healthcare compliance perspective, the venue presents a relatively low compliance risk profile. While leisure facilities including a swimming pool and wellness centre are available, they are operated independently and located separately from the meeting facilities. The hotel’s principal focus remains accommodation, meetings, conferences, and professional events. The venue does not use marketing language commonly associated with luxury resorts, entertainment destinations, or experiential hospitality, supporting its suitability for healthcare and pharmaceutical meetings.
