Compliance Summary

General Overview
The Hilton London Bankside opened in 2015 as a purpose-built hotel with a combination of leisure and business facilities. It is NOT officially rated and is primarily positioned as a business hotel which includes 11 flexible event spaces and 292 bedrooms.

Location

Hilton London Bankside occupies a central location on the south of London’s River Thames. Arriving by public transport, the hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Southwark, Waterloo, London Bridge, Blackfriars main line, and London Underground stations. London’s City Airport is 8 miles and 30 minutes by car or public transport and from Blackfriars train station, a direct link to London Gatwick Airport in 35 minutes and London Luton airport in 40 minutes.

Design

The design and architecture of the hotel is contemporary and modern with hints of industrial design which is reflective of the Bankside area’s history and its urban renewal. The interior décor is design-led which is reflected in public areas and bedrooms.

Bedrooms

The hotel has 292 bedrooms and for HCP meetings the Standard (106) and Deluxe (133) rooms are offered as room sizes are the same where amenities can be removed to provide consistency. Suites and Executive rooms are available and likely to be considered for internal groups only. For the business traveller there is a work desk, complimentary Wi-Fi, a laptop safe, USB plug sockets, an iron, and an ironing board. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious for London, with a rainfall shower and branded toiletries, plus a robe and slippers in all rooms.

Restaurant

The hotel’s OXBO restaurant is used for guest breakfast, lunch, and dinner with semi-private areas for small groups or can be privatised for large groups up to a maximum of 150 guests.

For dinner meetings, a private meeting room is required. The Distillery Bar is often utilised during the day by those local companies for one-to-one meetings or as a place to work remotely from. The bar would not be offered for any healthcare meetings involving HCPs.

Meeting Space

The main event space is the Bankside Ballroom, a modern room that can host up to 700 delegates in theatre style. Some of the key features include a private entrance, private foyer & balcony area for catering or exhibition spaces, state-of-the-art AV, six-meter high ceilings, and the ability to partition the space into three smaller rooms. The main type of events to take place in the Bankside Ballroom are conferences and dinners.

Additionally, the London Floor, situated on the same level as the Ballroom, contains eight smaller meeting rooms, six of which are flexible spaces, and two fixed boardrooms. The rooms on this floor will accommodate between 10 boardroom – 200 delegates theatre style.

They can be used as breakout spaces to the Ballroom (as it’s close by) or alternatively used independently for training, meetings or seminars. As there is a separate entrance to the London Floor, both this space and the Ballroom can be privatised.

Experience

The hotel has hosted healthcare sector meetings including Advisory Boards, Steering Committee, and Investigator Meetings as well as internal meetings.

Due to the proximity to large hospitals and universities in the surrounding area such as UCL and Guys & St Thomas Hospital, the hotel also has experience in hosting meetings from the National Health Service.

Fitness

The hotel's fitness facilities consist of an indoor swimming pool, gym, and two treatment rooms – so it is not a spa although some websites may describe it as such.

Compliance Hotspot

Due to the hotel’s location, close to, but not overlooking London’s tourist attractions, some of the sales and marketing language and imagery are naturally aimed toward the weekend leisure market.

The hotel's gym consists of an indoor swimming pool, a gym with free weights and machines, and two treatment rooms – so it is not a spa although some websites may describe it as such.

This venue's location has a strong offering for both business and leisure visitors, and as a result, people's perceptions of the venue may differ depending on how they use the location for meetings. In our opinion, this has no bearing on the venue's meeting proposition, as there is a clear separation between the hotel site and of the attractions.
