Location:
The Radisson Blu Hamburg airport is, as the name suggests, an airport hotel positioned in marketing assets as a conference hotel. There is extensive meeting space for plenary and breakout rooms over two floors. The majority of larger spaces are located on the ground floor adjacent to the hotel entrance lobby and bar areas.
The airport is a 100m walk from the entrance to the hotel, where the international airport with a direct 30-minute train to Hamburg city can be accessed. You can connect to the local autobahn/motorway network from a short, 2-3 minute drive from the hotel. There are 12,000 chargeable parking spaces at the airport
Design:
The hotel is modern and contemporary throughout, designed in a circular format with public areas at the centre, meeting rooms in a curve to the outside walls and 8 floors of bedrooms with internal and airport views. Some references are made to meeting space having “exceptional elliptical architecture and trendy design” and though this is true it still remains rooted in a 4-star executive style impression. It should be remembered that the interior is framed by the location within the airport environment and the view of the car park and the airport terminal to the front.
Sleeping Rooms:
The 266 sleeping rooms are bright and contemporary in design with the use of bright primary colours throughout the majority of room types. Enhanced rooms often relate to the view and overall size rather than the furniture, amenities or design, with premium rooms having a darker, more executive feel.
There is free wi-fi throughout all rooms and an MP3 adaptor, as well as the now-standard flat-screen television, safe, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
Restaurant:
The circle bar & restaurant is the only public food and beverage outlet at the hotel and is multi-purpose in design. Located at the absolute centre of the public area within sight of the meeting space, lobby and reception. The space is used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are 164 seats for seated meals. The design reflects other areas of the hotel with a modern, contemporary design with rust-red and beige colours highlighted by leather chairs at all tables. The menu is in northern German in design with no attempt to describe the food or environment to be fine dining.
Fitness:
The hotel has a fitness room, though incorrectly described online as a spa, two sauna rooms and an outside terrace with deck chairs. There is no pool.
Meeting space:
Meeting rooms are located in three locations. To the right and left of the lobby at the entrance to the hotel, and on the 1st floor. The airport room is the principal large meeting space divisible into 4 sections in a curved design following the shape of the hotel. There are 11 further smaller rooms for boardroom or small breakout room use. The design follows the rest of the hotel with a modern design using bold modern colours and enhanced furniture, over the normal “conference chair” to add a gentle quality twist to the overall executive impression of the space.
As a business hotel close to the airport, we do not believe this hotel poses any significant compliance risks. The hotel has a fitness room, and though incorrectly described online as a spa two sauna rooms and an outside terrace with deck chairs. There is no pool.
