Location:

The Radisson Collection Strand is located in the heart of Stockholm, directly opposite the Nybroviken waterway area. It is 15 minutes from the University Hospital of Karolinska in Solna and only 20 minutes walking distance for delegates staying at the hotel while attending a congress at the Waterfront Congress Centre. The international fair is 20 minutes away by car and 25 minutes away by public transportation. The Central Station in Stockholm is a 10-minute taxi ride away, and the airports of Bromma and Arlanda are 20 and 40 minutes away by taxi, respectively.

Design:
The Radisson Collection Strand Hotel is described as an iconic building due to its impressive period architecture from 1912, which blends into this central area of Stockholm. The interior though respectful of the history of the building is modern in design and reflects that of a contemporary venue, used for individual travellers, business and meetings. Décor is Scandinavian in style minimal on occasion using earth tones and natural materials such as wood, leather, and stone.
 

Sleeping Rooms:

The hotel has 170 bedrooms of which 62 are in the standard (called Collection room) category with a further 20 Superior rooms, 47 rooms are in premium category or 19 Suites. More details of which can be seen on this website. Premium rooms are slightly larger than collection rooms with some upgrades to décor, furniture and the views to the waterfront. In this case we believe that premium rooms will likely be suitable for groups involving healthcare professionals. Décor aligns to that of the rest of the hotel with clean simple low tone colours with some modern artwork to softly personalise sleeping rooms. There is free wi-fi throughout all rooms, as well as the now-standard flat-screen television, safe, iron/board, fully stocked mini-bars (which can be unstocked or removed) and tea and coffee making facilities.

 

Meeting Rooms:

The hotel has 4 naturally lit meeting rooms on the ground floor with the Harbour Suite overlooking the Nybroviken waterway and can accommodate Meetings for up to 40 in theatre style supported by 3 boardrooms. This space feels light, bright and modern in design with the use of wood, and mood colourings and some rooms feature ceilings, and art with bookcases to elevate the meeting experience from a functional space. In our opinion, the Strand aligns with internal meetings, senior-level gatherings and when it is necessary to use the hotel for city-wide conventions.

Restaurant:

The Issei restaurant specialises in Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian dishes. As you would imagine the menu is individual and high-end in how it is marketed and priced. The restaurant is stylishly decorated with feature lighting, flowers and an ambience to match the level of the cuisine on offer. Issei is open for breakfast, dinner and a brunch buffet.

Fitness:

There is a small gym located at the hotel.

Radisson Collection as a brand is an elevated product compared to other brands within the group. This can be seen in venue architecture, décor and the marketing language used to describe each property. The impression of some could be that the Strand is a 5-star venue however this could be a subjective decision to be considered on a meeting-by-meeting basis.
